Your first call is with our intake team rather than a lawyer. They will take down what happened, what court you are in, and how soon you need to be seen, and get your consultation scheduled. The consultation itself is with an attorney and runs roughly twenty to thirty minutes, by phone, video, or in person at our Phoenix office, whichever is easier for you.
We will ask what happened, what you have been told so far, whether you have a court date, and whether anyone has attempted to interview you. In return you should expect a plain-language explanation of what the charge means in Arizona, the realistic range of outcomes, what the process will look like and how long it takes, and what representation costs. If we do not think you need a lawyer, we will tell you. If your matter falls outside what we handle well, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
You are not obligated to hire us, and the conversation stays confidential either way.

Any paperwork you were given — a citation, a release order, a summons, a complaint, or a form with a court date on it. The name of the court and the case number if you have one. The date and rough location of the incident. The name of any officer or detective who contacted you. And whether you have any prior criminal history, including cases that were dismissed or set aside.

Two things matter enormously in the first days. First, jail phone calls are recorded, and prosecutors do listen to them, so do not discuss the facts of the case on a jail line with anyone other than an attorney.
